The Marrakech to Erg Chigaga Desert Tour is one of the most famous Marrakech desert tours that traverses the Erg Chigaga in the Sahara Desert, and offers you rich scenic view. Travel through unknown paths, discover unexplored places, and watch the color of the sky changing as you move across from one end of the desert to the other, breathing the fresh desert air and enjoying the unadulterated scenery.

You will enjoy the warm hospitality of the native Berbers, and love interacting with them and listening to their mystic tales as you camp in the desert under the shimmering stars and the jet-black sky at night. If you are lucky, you might discover some constellations too!

Day 1 – Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley

After a sumptuous breakfast, the tour guide will take you to Ouarzazate and Draa Valley in a day that will be filled with wonderful views and a nice long drive. You will be heading towards the southern part of Morocco, and will be crossing the epic High Atlas Mountains.

You will pass Ouarzazate during the afternoon. Known as the Hollywood of Africa, Ouarzazate offers some stunning backdrops against which a lot of Hollywood movies and TV series have been shot. After taking a lunch there, you will carry on towards the Draa Valley. On the way, you will witness the stunning sight of the Mountains of Jabel Saghrou.

Originally known as the Valley of Olives during the 19th century, The Draa Valley is known for the palm trees that adorn the roads. It contributes richly to the income of this town as they provide dates that are sold both as dry fruits and used in making baskets, rugs etc. At night, you will be accommodated either in a luxury tent or The Palmery Hotel.

Day 2 – Drive through Draa Valley, Erg Chigaga, and Camel Trek

After a filling breakfast, the tour will proceed towards Zagora and the Oulad Driss town. The morning drive will take place along the Draa valley, giving you spectacular sights of palm trees, villages with mud-red homes, and colourful sceneries. The town of Oulad Driss will be your first stop, where you will have lunch. This will be followed by the traditional Moroccan mint tea at the house of a native Berber.

The real Marrakech Sahara tour will start in the afternoon, when you will be taken for a 3-hour camel trek. A caravan of camels will carry all your luggage and camping equipment, while you enjoy the sights of sand dunes of Bounou. The camp will be setup in the middle of Mhamid sand dunes.

You will find yourself enjoying the landscape of pristine sand, pure air, and a picturesque backdrop. The sense of wanderlust will be heightened when you will witness the sun setting against a clear sky. The most interesting part of the night will be camping under the stars, and trying to discover constellations in the clear night sky, whilst enjoying a bon-fire lit night.
